When it comes to vacations and traveling, I want to see new places and cultures, the lines of architecture, the history and beauty of old cities, and the amazing scenery that God created like the Grand Canyon (which is still on my bucket list). When you can add amazing art and design into the mix—like a modern art museum or amazing statuary—it makes the vacation all the better. If I can be creativity inspired while recharging—then it’s the perfect kind-of vacation.

So when I saw photos of this boutique hotel in the heart of South Lake Tahoe—I suddenly felt a deep need for a rugged outdoor adventure and a desire to go visit this destination, I have only heard mentioned of for skiing over the years. They mixed rugged/practical and stylish/modern together with great success. It’s that happy mix of vintage with modern and organic with sleek that I love. Not only would I be able to spend time in nature recharging, but I would be creativity inspired by these well-designed rooms. Check out these photos of Basecamp Hotel and see if you, too, will feel the need to visit this stylish, modern hotel and explore the lakes, trails, and mountains in the Lake Tahoe Basin! Anyone want to go?

Hello! I'm Linda. I live in Nashville and enjoy most things vintage and modern. I love to create and restore things. And most of all—love attending parties, planning and hosting parties, and spending quality time with friends and framily.

  1. I’ve never been to Lake Tahoe but if I ever go, you can rest assured I’m staying HERE! Great find Linda 😉

  2. I love what they did to this. Its a great idea. Thanks for passing on the information. Great blog by the way.

  3. I never have liked “roughing it,” but I think I could handle tent-room. The faux campfire is an awesome touch!

    1. Hayley, if you stay there this fall, you’ll have to come back and post another comment, and let us know what the experience was like!

  4. This would be so much fun!! I love the indoor tent room. And it brings the beauty if design together with the “idea” of roughing it, which I like much better than the actual just roughing it. (sans shower?…I’ll take the tent room with adjoining bath!) love the blog and having a source for new design inspiration!

  5. Love these old motel / hotels….reminds me of my childhood…cool to see them restored for the better… great find.
