DIY: Branch Out

Categories DIY

BranchOutToday, I’m featuring a lot of lovely things you can make out of tree branches. Maybe because of the time of year and not spending much time outside, I feel a need to bring nature inside to me. Each of these ideas would make a great DIY project using a little ingenuity.

  1. Hooks — I think this would be an easy project to start with. You can see more below and  here.
  2. Shelves — It might take some searching to find two branches this uniform, but the results are fabulous. I found this shelf here.
  3. Coat rack — I love how this coat rack brings nature inside, but this would be a more industrious project.
  4. Mobile — This would be an excellent craft project with the kiddos. Though you might want to wait till fall to find colorful leaves. A tutorial can be found here.
  5. Art — This beautiful art piece has been sold, but you can find other work by this Etsy artist, greenlaundry, here.
  6. Branch shelf — I think you could make this shelf yourself, if you found just the right branch. This one looks to be made from some mass-producible product. You can see it here.
  7. Lighting — I found this beautiful lamp and many others by Portuguese architect Martino Pita here. If you found the right branch, your lighting could come from a simple light cord.

Anyone feel inspired?

  1. The hooks for jewelry and shade cords — and the tp dispenser — are my faves and they’re all going up in my home asap. And now I have an idea for a coat tree. . . .

  2. I have used them for curtain rods. when the drapes do not need to close. And I once, “weaved” them in a chain link gate, to add privacy.
